On May 12th, 2018 the two of us participated in the SCaN ARISS Innovation Challenge hosted at NASA's Goddard Visitor Center where we worked in small teams alongside other participants from around the Maryland DC area to come up with an idea that we could use to teach children ages 7 - 12 years old about the wonders and applications of optical communications - a type of communication using light to transfer data - which was achieved in the past through a demonstration at NASA using lunar lasers.

We both had a lot of fun working with our teammates to come up with a possible solution to this particular problem we were given and were very satisfied with our solution and presentation at the end of the session! We want to give a huge shoutout to Ms. Sandra Vilevac, who also gave us the tour of the NASA Goddard Space Center a couple of months ago, who helped to organize and execute this challenge, and to all of the participants who came on Saturday! We really had a great time listening to all of your wonderful ideas and unique techniques on approaching this challenge!
